This is an ultra-loaded 1972 Buick Electra 225 Custom Limited four-door hardtop. YOu may notice where they put the headlamp dimmer on Buicks in 1972. On the hood! This car has the fibre optics that monitor the lights on the front fenders. It has the Mark 4 road wheels, not technically correct for a '72 Limited, but commonly seen and they replace the rather plain standard wheel covers. My '68 Limited had the headlamp dimmer on the left front fender. I had a new '71 Limited two door hardtop. It was more opulent than the '68, but it wasn't as fast. About the only difference between the '71's and the '72's is the rub strip in the bumpers, the grille, and no vents in the trunk lid. All those did was make the edge of the trunk lid rust out where the water sat when the drain holes got stopped up. I have never seen a '72 with a headlamp dimmer. The guy who is narrating this video has obviously never owned a Buick himself. The "speedminder" was a standard feature of the big Buicks forever before 1972. About all this car doesn't have is Positraction and dual exhausts. It has Comfortron, which is a neat option for the climate control system. The '72's were not very fast. Smog regs had started to throttle the output of the 455 by them. I'd own this baby in a heartbeat if I had room to store it. And add some Stage 1 goodies to the old 455. Dream on, boy......

The same seller has a '70 Limited that he claims has every factory option. It does not have a headlamp dimmer, dual exhausts, positraction or the fibre optics lamp monitoring system, so it does not have every factory option. It is that awful baby poop brown color that plagued too many Electras in that era. He also claims it is "not a 225". Horsefeathers! Every Electra was a 225 after 1961. Starting in 1969 or '70 Buick used a "Limited" badge where the "225" normally is. In 1971, they said "Buick Limited" where it normally said "ELectra 225" There was also a "limited" script on the "C" pillar, where the regular Electra just had an "Electra 225" badge on the C pillar. So, it is a Electra 225 Custom Limited Sedan, model 48439. And, it shows the inlaid vinyl tops standard on Buick Electra 225 Limited cars. The regular Electra 225 had the vinyl top under the windshield trim and under the drip mouldings. Vinyl top was standard on the Limited trim option starting in 1967.
