For me, texting kind of defeats the purpose of a phone.

That is a pet peeve of mine as well, Mezlaw, and many a accident was caused by doing just that. And, Rex, I fully agree with you as well. Just call me old fashioned.

Thank you so much! :D

I keep telling people this and they look at me like I am crazy! I call it Morse-code for sissies!

Since I am always the last to know something, and that I always learn the hard way.......

There is a young man at work who won't speak to me anymore because he texted me and I didn't return his text immediately. My phone wasn't even on. I use text like email, which is a social faux pas I have learned......  ;)

Sounds like someone hurting to dislike you. They may as well be offended you didn't answer their note in a bottle.

Some people take texting seriously, very seriously. At work, managers text each other. They have a radio strapped to their hip, yet they text on their phones. If they give me orders via text, they stand a good chance of my not carrying out their orders. Many of the younger people won't answer the phone if you make a telephone call to them. They think the boogey man is on the line. Yet they will spend thirty minutes clearing all the junk texts off their phones and think nothing about that. :o  ;)

It's a good thing they have you as a role model to exemplify how wiser, older people conduct their lives. It is getting to be fringe enough to become a thing with them.

When I was driving truck waiting to make a left turn , I got rear ended by a 17 year old driving a pick-up...he was texting .... they had to cut him out of the truck , both legs were crushed , sheriff said he was going to cite him for texting , but figured he learned his lesson ... laid up for months unable to walk...hope he learned it...

A couple of weeks ago in Vermont we drove out of the private road entrance to our lakeshore community and made a R on the small local road that's about 2/10 mile long leading to the main road that parallels the lakeshore of Mallet's Bay, it's a very lightly used road, used mostly by the few seasonal residents. In about 500' we saw 2 local cops and an ambo with lights on, on the opposite side of the road. I stopped and asked the cop directing the essentially non-existent traffic what was up. Well it turned out that a 17 yr old kid admitted he had been texting on his phone and drove squarely into a phone pole that was about the only significant stationary obstacle for about 100 yards as well if he had aimed for it!

These clueless cretins "texting" (a word I abhor... text is a noun not a verb!) on their bloody smart phones are the main reason I"ll no longer drive my motorcycles on the road, and I'm scared even in the car given what I've seen on the interstate. Semi-drivers texting while their rig goes over the rumble strips and lurches back to the lane on other side! We do the 300 mi trip from NY to VT 10-12 x a year. There needs to be a way found to prohibit drivers from using hand held smart phones for "texting" when a vehicle is in motion, it should be do-able. Most humans are just too stupid or feckless to user proper judgement about appropriate use of technology, they'll do what's convenient for them and "deleted" the consequences. One reason I refuse to drive a small car.
