Honestly, I had a tiny side business when I recapped a 50's radio or shortwaves of reselling the removed bumblebee caps on ebay. No guarantee, nothing, and someone would always buy them. Out of spec, old, caps. Even an elementary electronics course would tell you there is nothing magical about them....

Thats why Interlochen Public Radio is the best! Yeah, strongest NPR station nearest where I live went all talk last March. Can only listen to their music feed on the internet... I hope they have lost a good number of their contributers and get the idea that they should at least do a mix.

Yup, tubes are rarely the problem (even though tons of Ebay auctions usually say "doesn't play, probably needs a tube replaced". Of the dozen radios that have passed thru my hands, only one needed a new tube, and I burned it out myself...

BTW, eagle eyed folks will note that the previous owner of the SHF-4 swapped out the RP-205 changer for a VoM 1297 series changer. Im not so disappointed, and will probably keep it that way...
