Re: Tube sockets
I've been able to restress the pin sockets for miniature tubes that are constructed with phenolic sheets with a small set of hemostats and got reliable results. I gently squeezed the socket where it passes through the lower phenolic matrix. After having done so, I could see the sockets expand as the...

Work Sharp Ken Onion Mk.2
I place a high value on a sharp knife. My relatives won't borrow any of my cutlery. Their choice, not mine. :D I like them sharp but it has always been a difficult task in getting them the way I want them. I found a sharpener as mentioned in the title as an open box deal for a good price on Ebay. It...

As a youth, I wasted a year and a half trying to restore function to an RCA 45 changer. That got me sworn off such mechanisms.

Good looking unit. Excellent score!
Re: Auroras
I forgot about them with different projects. I'm glad that for the most part it was a good show as opposed to the disruptor I heard talk about.

With that setup, there was not only the possibility of air movement affecting the changer, but also vibration through the cabinet even with the spring mounts for the changer. It'd be interesting to see how much feedback was picked up at the tonearm?

Re: Les Paul & Mary Ford
There was an excellent bio of Paul on the series American Masters. It went into some detail on his experiments with amplified "guitars" and showed his home studio and equipment. Also a lot of his long career and other successes.

One Of Our Animals At Work
Last year we had a family of hawks that stayed in the area until the hatchling grew and went off on it's own. It would sit on the top wire support of the 100 foot tower in front of our building. a couple of months ago, a new bird has been perching there. I have no idea what kind it is. It's twice th...

Re: Les Paul & Mary Ford
Paul used Ampex equipment. He had a multi input system that would record a separate track for whatever end item recording, unlike these Ampex units shown in the Omnibus interview.

I once had a drain plug that would "loosen" on me. After tightening it a bit extra each time, I found it leaked because the plug was getting ready to strip it's threads. I discovered it when it did.

A Note On YouTube Presentations
It appears that there are manufactured Album covers being put up on YouTube. They are beginning to cross the line on what is considered acceptable on this family friendly site. If you come across any of these including George Carlin's seven dirty words, please don't share them here. They will have t...
