Sad stories. It seems that every company no matter how large, has a "death gene" that will overtake it. No business is too big to fail.

What bothers me is destruction of functioning concerns that provide jobs and economic benefit to communities, just to extract value. Sometimes it's the real estate that can be sold for a quick profit. Sometimes it's a patent or specialized technology. Maybe it's just a name with value. Some fast-buck artist sees a way to make a fast profit and does so with no regard for the effect on others, leaving the business closed and its dependable jobs gone. The community suffers. It just keeps happening.
