Hello everybody!
Wow. Am I glad I found this forum. My hi-fi journey began in 1958 when my parents gave me my first Crescent, 45rpm record player which I no longer have. It included the Chipmunks Christmas record which I still do have.
Glad to be here. More to share later.

I like your handle. I am a big fan of mono records.
Those Chipmunks were pretty fun.
That 45 is a nice momento to have.
Just call me "Mogul", everybody else does !

Gary:
You and I must be about the same vintage. Not only do I have my Chipmunks 45, I have the player and have restored ( a grand word for new filter caps and cartridge) it. Here's my YouTube video of the little RCA:

Re: Hello everybody!
Welcome to the forum, I am a bit younger but my parents had many records and they were played (and worn) on my Mom's '56 Birch radio-RP with a V-M changer. That went on for 10 more years
My first player was used for 45s and those same records, it was an equally rugged GE "automatic"
but the best system was in the living room and it was a whole different story.
When I was not quite born, a Motorola TV was purchased which I still have. At the age of 4, I accompanied my Dad to a dusty-smelling stereo shop in a mall in San Antonio. Based upon his co-workers' recommendations, he selected a Scott Stereomaster 344B, Dual 1009 turntable and Altec Lansing Bolero 890 speakers. This setup and the TV resided in a tall pie safe cabinet, with doors, for many years after.
We never had a console but as I got older, I began to service them and got my love of them after having a Fisher 610 and later, guts from a Motorola SK-28 3-channel which I put tongether in a 52 Admiral TV cabinet. FF 45 years and here we are

Re: Hello everybody!
Welcome Gary! One of the first record players I remember was an RCA 45 player with a crescent changer. It was my sister's with a Roy Rogers motif. That little unit got a lot of use.
