I hate these Chrysler/dodge key fobs ...
Decided the threat of snow "should be" over... rolled out the car from hibernation and low and behold the fobs are dead .... changed battery and fixed the metal contacts that seem to become unglued all the time and still nothing ... even tried shorting the contacts with a small screwdriver ... still nothing ... figured I will get burned by the dealer to re-program new fobs... so I just slapped the fobs back together disgusted... and low and behold it worked....what I did different I have no idea ... these fobs are junk...

I won't own a car w/o a real key, both xTerras, the '07 Mustang, and of course the '86 Saab and '69 Olds have real keys.
My son had to replace a digital fob on his 2020 car... $800!!! And I've heard of worse... screw that!!
New cars are too complex.

We have a battery place, something like Batteries Plus, that sells fobs for cars and programs them dirt cheap in comparison to dealership prices. You might do some searching in your area for a similar program.

Well it has a emergency key built into the fob ... but I don't understand these things, it's a lousy design ... the buttons slowly stop working one at a time ... till they all stop working.... take it apart and check the battery ... putting out 3 volts as it should , still nothing , clean the contacts and even try a small screwdriver to short the contacts and still nothing ... slap in back together and throw it on the counter for a week , pick it up out of the blue and push a button and it works completely ... every button ... WTH?

Did you cuss? That always works for me. Throwing it down on the counter never hurts, either. Glad you got it going.....

I keep a card of spare batteries for my fobs, as well as the other items they run. A battery can indicate the stated voltage yet not have enough current to effectively operate the circuit. My car has 1 keyed door. That makes a fob a necessity.
