The machine shop that rebuilt engines for me had that sign above the counter, "In God we trust, all others pay cash". Another popular sign was "Credit makes enemies, let us be friends".

People would call the shop wanting to know who was in charge of my Accounts payable, insurance, whatever. I would tell them they need to speak with Mr. Click. They would then ask to speak with Mr. Click. I would raise the receiver of the phone about a foot above the cradle, then drop it. They got to hear from Mr. Click......
