Garrard 2025 TC

[Hi-Fi-Mogul]

This is a changer w/base that I bought because I like the
smooth tonearm lowering, which I observed from previous
Garrards serviced for other folk.

I had a trying experience during its service with the main cam
gear trip pawl not moving, as I did with the 3500 unit.

I adjusted my vise-grip carefully to hold the pawl shaft, and
slowly, slightly rotated the shaft back and forth.
It started to release, and I applied more oil, and
it freed up.

As with the 3500, there was no lubricant
in the cam gear hole the trip pawl assembly went into.
Wonder if it's some atom level reaction b/t aluminum and
the steel to bind those parts so completely ?

I also was chagrined to see the stylus saddle of the
Varco T4NB phono cart was missing.
I remembered that the modern Pfanstiel P-22X family
of carts were also a sub for this Varco.

You remove the plastic mount from the new P-228, e.g.,
and the cart body can be clipped into the permanent
tonearm cart mount.

Removal of the tonearm for an easier installation
was not worth the complexity of that process.
There is a rubber boot on the tonearm audio wires that
was removed to make connecting the wires to
the cartridge pins easier.

All done now, and it goes back into its base today.
