Sitting here listening to the music sound track from the Christopher Nolan film, Interstellar. The composer is Hans Zimmer. The movie was very good, and it was one where the musical score was an integral part of the experience. Think of Alfred Hitchcock and the scores Bernard Herrmann wrote for Psycho and Vertigo. Or the Maurice Jarre score for Lawrence of Arabia, which is in the top 3 movies ever for me. Or Nino Rota's wonderful scores for Fellini. When I hear the score for 8-1/2, i can visualize the scenes. Or how about Ennio Morricone's score for The Good, the Bar, and the Ugly?
I love movies and also their music.

It is a nice thing when fumble-fingered typing brings a grin and not just an eye-roll about ineptitude.
In my defense, I'm a two- fingered typist, three if you count the thumb that hits the shift key. The letters are all worn off the keyboard on this laptop's keyboard. The "o" key doesn't even have a cap any more. So it's a matter of muscle memory and/or guessing at what was once on each key. In the new year I'll visit the computer shop and get a new keyboard.
And maybe too many brain cells were killed off during too much bar time in college. The favored college bar never got raided and many of us were under age. Never raided until my brother and his buddy visited. I saw what was happening and snuck out through the kitchen door and drove away in the '61 Chevy to raise bail for the 2 prisoners.

I firmly believe that wearing the letters off the "backspace" button is a privilege of advancing age...
I offer this bit of wisdom, not as a criticism of others, but as my admission of guilt.....

Dennis, I don't know whether you are a Mickey Gilley fan or not, but he had a famous song "The Girls All Get Prettier at Closing Time"........

Chris, I admit to being a member of the Jack Benny school of financial planning, but I got an essentially new keyboard at Goodwill for $1. Works like a champ, I'm using it now.

A friend of mine uses a Devorak keyboard. Supposedly easier to use, but sure not on the first time...

Re: Sound track
Mine's a laptop and it's actually the key caps that get replaced. Of course, I could use an external keyboard, but that's one more piece to cart around and hold in my lap.electra225 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 01, 2026 7:43 pm
