I brought back a big box of 45s from my Mom's house. There was a huge flood in that town in about 1993. There were big storms and power outages all over, stopping the sewer lift pumps. I was trying to get to my parents' house to return the aluminum fishing boat and just three blocks from their house I hydrolocked the Mustang's engine. Walked the rest of the way.... Their basement was flooding with stormwater backing up in the combined sewer system. We set about hauling stuff out. In the bottom of the jukebox a bunch of 45s were stored. Mom took on removing them from the paper jackets and flattening them to dry. The next day I returned the favor: I drilled out the lock on an old steamer trunk and found the doll clothes her mother had made for her, soaked but salvageable.
In any event, tonight I slid all the 45s back into their proper sleeves, at least those from companies that had printed paper sleeves. Just about every big 1960s pop hit you can think of.
But in the "misc." category there are two cool things. One is a 7", 33-1/3 rpm flexible vinyl advertising disc from Oldsmobile entitled "Sounds of the Toronado." Yeah, 1966, first year for the Toro. And then there's a 45 put out by Hallicrafters, "The Amazing World of Short Wave Listening." I'll have a listen to both tomorrow night.

That is so cool, Chris. I would love to hear both of those records. I have a record like your Oldsmobile record only for Buick. It's a 331/3 but a full size record. Buick, presents, "THE SOUND OF TOMORROW". Here's one on the BAY:

I got a flexible disc in 1966 from Stu Berger Oldsmobile in Towson MD where I grew up when visiting their showroom to see the incredible new Toronado at age 16. That car totally blew me away, more than any car since the Jag E-Type in 1961. The record had a commentary from John "Shorty" Powers of NASA driving and extolling the new Toro, I remember it to this day, even the sound of the seat belt "click" as he got in to drive it.! It got thrown out by my step-mom who entered the family when my Mom died the year I left for college. It was tossed out along with all my '60s car promos and models and many LPs while I was away... needless to say not an auspicious start relationship-wise.
Please report, Chris, on it's content, I wonder if it's the same one. A very vivid memory from my teen years, along with the visual memory of seeing that incredible Dubonnet '66 Toronado space ship for the 1st time. I went on to own 3 First Gen Toronados... in many respects GMs best car ever imo.

I've long wanted to own a 1966 Toronado. Such a cool looking car with new back then technology. There are a few of those records on eBay. One such is here:

Wow that's it all right! What a memory rush after more than 50 years to see that again... I may have to buy that!
