John A
Austin TX
I don't give out my birthday.
Tried to post a question, but got a strange rejection message. "The message contains links to illegal or pirated software". I didn't include any links in my message. So, I'm confused about this.

I don't know why you got the strange message. Posting your zip code is not your location. Austin, TX is your location and should be included in your user profile. Posting your birthday is totally optional. If you refer to the rules, you will see that new members are required to post their location before we approve their first post. They must also post an avatar by their third post. If you have been reading this forum, you have surely seen where we are battling an invasion of spam by bad actors. The request for posting your location is in red letters in the message board. Also, people who won't comply with the rules are people who apparently don't want to post on our forum. Now that we understand each other, if you would post here on the Introductions board a bit about yourself, your interests, what consoles you own, things like that, it would be great so we could get to know you better. Welcome to our forum and thank you for your cooperation and understanding. If I remember right, you had a question about an RCA with a problem with the cartridge or needle. If you would post your question on the RCA board, it can be shared with the forum. Welcome aboard!...

Sorry to hear about the spam and hackers. I guess that's everywhere nowadays.
I put my Austin, Texas location into my profile. The stereo console I have is an RCA Victor VGT 26W from around 1964, 1965 +/-? It still has the stereo album set that came with it - "50 Years of Hits in Stereo". It originally was my aunt's stereo and I remember her playing music for us on it when I was just a kid.

Thank you, John, for posting your location and your avatar. We look forward to working with you on the forum.

I couldn't wait to dump our console stereo way back when so I could get a component system. I got into the hobby of collecting stereos when my mother-in-law passed and we inherited her old console stereo. It sat in the back bedroom for decades until I decided to remodel the house. I was going to toss it, but the wife balked. It was her mom's and she remembered how proud of it her mom was. We had used it for an afghan stand and some place for the cats to take a nap. I fixed it up and the rest is history. It is a Maganvox Symphony and is one of my favorite stereos. I have five other Magnavox stereos, including a Stereo Theater that has a 27" TV in the middle of the cabinet. They are addictive. You can't have just one. Good luck with your project!

Welcome to the forum, John, and thank you for completing your registration. It is so important now days to keep on top of all the nasty spambots so they don't cause any trouble and full registration is one way we can tell who is legit and who is not.

I am an eclectic collector, I have a little of everything including a couple of RCA's but mostly Voice of Music. I guess I decided on that brand as they were built in Michigan and that is the state I live
in. Again, welcome, and don't forget to look around and read what some of the members are or have been working.

Bill
