The dial-phone film might be helpful for the young folks who have never used one. Kinda like instructions for a manual transmission.... I still have two dial phones in service.

I am sitting at an old mahogany desk from my grandparents house. It's Imperial, from Grand Rapids. In those days, Grand Rapids meant furniture, at least for mass-market stuff. My Dad remembered that it was the "telephone table" in the house where he grew up. Then, it would have been a candlestick phone. It later served as a desk and bedside table for my grandfather when he was in a wheelchair. It was old & banged up so I refinished it. I don't think anybody has telephone tables any more. Telephone pockets, maybe.

I rented a 1920's era home for years which had a hallway telephone
recessed "pocket" built into the wall.

That house also had a fold-a-way ironing board in the kitchen wall.

I can remember when the rotary phone came to town. Hart had its own phone company back in the day. The office and switch board were in a building behind the bank downtown. The building is still there. The office was on the main floor and the switch board was upstairs.
