Listening to the opera

[TC Chris]

As I type this, the Sat. broadcast from the Met opera is on the radio--Verdi's Macbeth. One of Verdi's grand choruses has just been sung. I don't have any idea what they are saying but the magnificent music has me wiping at the eyes a bit. Verdi was simply a genius, one of those who put his abilities in service to posterity, bringing joy to humans long after he is gone.
