It's raining today so I'm wasting time looking on eBay. I came across this "Motorola" and thought I would share. Beside the "Motorola" part, does anyone else have any comments?
I do! That is the exact model of little Imperial I have on my bucket list, 1ST665. Not that bad of a price and not terribly far away. Thanks for sharing that, Bill.......
The only Motorola part on that stereo is the "M" in Magnavox.......

Well, since you ask, yes.... Here's another idler-drive turntable that "needs a new belt." That always amuses me.

I've never seen a Magnavox console with the center front enclosure like that one. It seems redundant with the upper shelf that appears to be a slide out as if to accommodate a modular turntable.

I might go $150-$200 for one like that in almost perfect cosmetic condition. And in operating condition. The 665 has the largest little Imperial cabinet. I'm not wild about the record storage in the middle in the front, but that is the area they put a 24" TV in when they used that cabinet for a Stereo Theater. And it's on casters. The problem is as far as value goes, it would have the 93 series amp, THE preferred amp for the console rapers. Good chance, if it did sell, it is not in one piece as we speak. Look for the guts on ebay in the next few days......

Its value is what one is willing to pay, and I hope Greg is wrong with it being parted out. I really like the looks of that cabinet, Magnavox out did themselves when they chose that furniture style. IMHO!
That is my favorite little Imperial cabinet, mostly due to its more ornate decorations. The 93 series amp will be its death knell in the world of ebay flippers. Nobody else but me would want one in one piece.

Yes it probably will be stripped, the sad fact is many folks just don't have the room for a 5, 6ft or larger piece of furniture.
It isn't the financial incentive so much, imo... how, when you'll pay $75-100 or so for the console, take considerable time and hassle to disassemble it and get rid of the cabinet, then sell the amp as-is for maybe 150-ish? Or a bit more after modding it? Hardly worth the effort unless one was to then keep and use the amp oneself as a stand alone. It's mostly about space imo. The wife is already making noises about the DuMont console being too big to allow for bookshelves in the LR, we have 10 boxes of books never unpacked from the last move and nowhere to put them, so she has a point, and the custom stereo cabinet we also have in there as well is only 40" wide, meanwhile we have no access to books stored in boxes in the basement. I envy those with adequate space for console collecting, but like anything mechanical and/or electrical they need to be restored and placed where they can be used or they'll suffer over time.
I have never figured out why anybody would go to the trouble of "modding" a 15 WPC amplifier. No matter how many "go-fast" goodies you add, you still have a 15WPC amp, originally tuned to its factory speakers and cabinet.

Ah yes, but it contains TUBES. And as we all know, tubes are endowed with supernatural properties that no other amplification devices can touch. Even if the amp could only drive the geetar players headphones, it would make his music eclipse that of the ancient sireens. The wine cabinet's destruction is an irresistible force.

Performance modding for one with dinky output xfrms would be sort of pointless, tho' some mods would be required in order to provide RCA inputs and speaker output strips to replace the molex plug, not to mention a phone preamp for vinyl. It all seems too much to bother with to me.
