I'm not near these two, but thought they were worth
a view.
The Magnavox is a good deal, money wise.
Can someone ID a year or model ?
The cabinet has some interesting-looking
naughahyde-like material in the front cabinet panels.
The Admiral is a really nice simple 1957 modern design.
I read on the tube line-up sticker that it has
two 6V6 tubes. So a beefy PP amp there.

Re: Magnavox and Admiral Consoles
I like the Admiral, and it looks like it should be a good performer. Didn't Admiral make their own changers? I can never seem to remember that. I would have been nice if the person taking the photos of the Magnavox would have done a straight on shot of the controls. I'm not sure what model, but I'm guessing it's an Astro-Sonic. Anyone else have a guess?

Re: Magnavox and Admiral Consoles
I have a Magnavox stereo identical to that one. Model 2ST653, circa 1963. It has a five-knob tuner, Series 100, with an 88 Series amp, two 12" woofers, four four-inch tweeter/midrange. They built a solid state model in the same cabinet, sold along side the tube model. It's the cheapest Magnavox stereo in my collection, about $250 new. It is a dandy performer. I'm going to do a full restoration on mine one of these days. Even though mine is a low-end model, it is still built like a Magnavox, dangling wiring and all. The 88 series chassis is made like a solid state model, with the connections on top of the chassis, rather than on the rear rail as in the past. This is a tribute to the solid state models, made very similarly. The naugahyde panels look nice, but God help you if they ever needed replaced. The entire front end of the cabinet will have to come apart to do that. The stereo in the link is very restorable. Probably most of what you see is dirt.
I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.....Thomas Alva Edison

Thanks for that info, Greg.
Bill, Admiral did make their own changers.

Thanks, Mr. Mogul, I'm glad I'm not totally losing it.
