Herb Jeffries

This man was born in 1913 and lived until 2014, passing just before his 101st birthday. I wasn't familiar with this singer with his booming baritone singing voice. I have an album that Michael Martin Murphy recorded with the San Antonio symphony orchestra in 1996. He is introduced on this live album as being 83 years old. He still had a marvelous voice at that advanced age. A man of mixed heritage, one of the pioneers of "singing cowboys" on the silver screen. The album I refer to is called "Sagebrush Symphony".

I had no idea Herb Jeffries sang music like that. I think I've heard that song, but didn't know who was singing. So jazz and country are related, huh? Plus, I liked that symphony orchestra on the CD I referenced. That is my kind of symphony, other than the Magnavox variety......
