Even Fisher made them! This looks like a 1961-ish Philharmonic, their BOL model. While most higher Fishers have larger-sized high quality output transformers with steel end bells, this all-in-one receiver is an example from one of Fisher's cheaper (sub $300) console models with small open-frame xfmrs seen on typical/average consoles and a 6BQ5 SE amp section. It'd still be a fun garage or home office music-maker, and Fisher tuner sections were typically really good performers, in my experience anyway! (btw those are non-original knobs I think)

Yeah, but this one has two-gang tuning capacitors for both AM and FM, not exactly a sign of high performance!

I assume just like all the other manufacturers did... they had to offer low buck models to appeal to the less than effluent crowds...just targeting a certain crowd or status level in any business is a sure way to go under...

Had to hook the consumer somehow. That entry-level Fisher may have been cheaper than a middle unit from another brand but offered more.

Well, it was a "Find" online, and there've been Maggie, Motorola, and other makes with their own sections on "Finds", but I guess not... mea culpa.

I made a judgment call. I figured someone visiting our forum might find the topic more easily on the Fisher board, then could compare the components of the different price points. We have infinitely more Magnavox information in the regard than Fisher.
