That button was missing on mine when I got it. I made one out of a plastic rod I got at Lowe's in their hardware department. I cut it to length, then used a soldering iron to melt the end flat so it wouldn't fall out. I don't know what the originals are made of, but they are frequently found missing. Good luck.
