No More Consoles

Post: # 397Post aclarke207 »

For the first time several years I am without a console. After breathing life into my 1961 Magnavox Imperial that had sat, silenced, for 35 years I came to the realization that our little house is not just large enough for a console... maybe someday when the kids finally leave the nest. So it's a pretty bittersweet moment. Of course, if I ever fall into a killer deal on a Concert Grand I suppose one of those kids might be served eviction papers! ;)

While it's going to leave a bit of a hole in my heart (and basement) I'm glad I was able to get it playing music again- and I'm glad that the new owner has plans to take the restoration to the finish line and make it a daily driver. He was aware of the old site, but I've also pointed him in this direction of this forum.

There are smaller record players and stereos that might fit your circumstances better. Thank you for referring the new owner to our site.

I have a 1971 Sansui 5000x receiver that is in great condition and a borrowed Pioneer turntable. Speakers are some old Realistic Minumus 7's paired with a set of early KLH 6 speakers... the KHL were part of the deal for the Maggie. It's not fancy, but it works perfectly in my little office.

I use something similar in my "laboratory" to convert old analog music media to digital.

It's good to know you have not totally gone "cold turkey" and given up music. And, it's good to have you on the forum so please continue to contribute.
