If the one you have pictured is a 148, it's a bi- amp. You can tell the bi-amps by that big silver box with the coils in it. Those coils act as the crossover networks for the bi-amp treble speakers. Check the codes on the speakers to see when they were produced and by whom. This will give you an idea whether they are original and somewhat correct for the year the instrument was built, of if they are later, such as from an Astro-Sonic instrument of some kind.

Looking at the photo's the amps look the same as the 1958 CG amps. (3 capacitor towers) Its making more sense now. couple of questions, Are the 148 amp biamped as the 182 series were ? The woofers are unlike any i have seen. Are they the later astro sonic imperial speakers? If so how did you deal with the passive crossovers? Hydro
The Amp 148,150,179, 168?, 182 are all biamped. The 182 is also Stereo. The amps in you picture are a 150 and 179.

The speakers in mine are from a '67 Imperial, the crossovers are not attached to the speakers, and the imperial had its crossover set around 600-1000 cycles, which is the close to the Bi-amped amps, so the speakers are in their natural range.
