Motorola 3- channel SK76 date? vs. tube compliment

VM record changer corresponds to 38th week of 1960

Now for the REAL question, up to now, info ive been able to get says that this model used 6V6 outputs, but mine has ECL82/6BM8 outputs, exactly like a 1964 Lafyette LR-400 on the bench right now. four year differece, Was Motorola that far ahead of the pack, or do i have a franken-ola

Hi Randy. The 10M60 is correct, October of 1960 is the build date. Do you know your chassis numbers, that will help?

I have a Motorola SK-52, Drexel Declaration cabinet, amp chassis HS-839A, build date September 1960 and it has the 6BM8/6BQ5 amp chassis. Brettsky99 and Motorola Minion (both very knowledgeable with Motorola) will know about the 6V6 vs the 6BM8/6BQ5 chassis and why yours has the chassis it has. I am guessing somewhere in the 1960's era Motorola made a production change.

The Sams 591-9 dates from 1962, with 6V6 tubes in that chassis.

As Bill noted, there may have been a chassis design change,
over several years.

Your chassis numbers will probably give the clue.

Hi Randy,
As the minion, I refer to my 5 YO self-toad-sitting in from of a 19 inch BW Motorola TV in a plain gray metal cabinet Dad bought at EJ Korvette's in Camp Hill pa. before moving to TX, 4 years later moving back to PA and using it in our new house until we got a Zenith color.

The Motorola SK74 is sim'lar to an SK52 that I serviced for a customer, and Bill Has which is a delightful combination of 6BM8s, pentode-triodes to save on costly 12AX7s and 6BQ5s during a supply chain issue, a unique but very good amplifier. The record changer is most definitely a Voice of Music custom decorated for Motorola. The FM tuner is very selective yet it's not mpx stereo, IIRC.
