COPS car show
The sheriff's posse sponsors this show every year. They had 279 pre-registered cars and I heard they had 31 more that registered the day of the show, but I don't know that for sure. Several cars there I had seen before, several new ones I hadn't seen. Our local representative in the state legislature owns a '64 Electra and parked butt to butt to mine, so that was good. I met the mayor of San Tan Valley as well.
Two cars there that were of particular interest. One was a '63 Corvair coupe with Powerglide and factory air. I had never seen a factory air Corvair of any description. The A/C condenser sat flat on top of the engine, almost as large as the engine itself and four or five times as thick as the one on my Buick. The compressor was not on the car, but it was the normal A6, designed to run the opposite direction of a typical A6.
The other car I thought was interesting was a '58 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. It was a loaded factory air car, which is not unusual. What I found interesting was that it had an A6 compressor on it. Cars of that vintage typically are found with the older A5 compressor. The owner swears it is the original compressor. It did have the yellow Cadillac "ok, final test" stamp on the compressor body. Maybe our resident Cadillac guru with interject and straighten this mystery out. It was a good day for a car show, sunny and a tad windy.

Glad you had fun and saw some interesting stuff. I miss those car shows, maybe sometime in the future I will be able to return, at least one more time. This is time change weekend so we need to spring our clocks ahead tonight. So, all you Michiganders, don't forget!

There was a purple and white Metro there that had a high-dollar restoration. It was a convertible.

Did you take any photos while you were there?

This. Post. Is. Worthless. Without. Pictures.
Did some snooping around the interwebs Greg. A5 compressor would be correct for a '58 Caddy. The A6 is a popular "upgrade/swap".
Although, this is a '56, here's a good picture:

I need to find the USB cable for my phone. It is a different size than the one I use for my digital camera, naturally. I haven't figured out how to post pictures to the forum from my phone.

Greg, I just email the photos from my phone to myself to get them on my pc. At one time I had a bluetooth connection {with my last phone) that would transfer photos from my phone to my pc. It doesn't seem to work with the phone I have now. Not to mention how different it is in Windows 11 from Windows 10!

Re: COPS car show
Okay, I think I retrieved my pictures. Larry, I tried it your way. I'm not smart enough to do it that way. I got them emailed to my AOL account from my Gmail account, but then it wouldn't let me download them without messing with Google somehow, which it would not let me do. Then I tried the USB method. The computer didn't recognize my phone. Google came through this time. I had to set the phone to transfer data via the USB, not charge only. Silly, just plain silly. I reckon security may be a consideration in some cases, but, jeez.....

Thanks for sharing. Love the Metro and will show Bob the photo. And is that an A/C condenser sitting on top of a Corvair engine?

Yessir, that is the condenser on an air conditioned 1963 Corvair Monza. You couldn't get air conditioning on the four-carb engine or on the turbocharged engine because the intake plumbing was in the way. That condenser if HUGE! Almost six inches thick. It also has Powerglide. Cute little car. Never saw a Corvair with factory air before. I thought Bob might like that Metro. High-dollar restoration on that car. I posted the '66 Chevy because it was still a real 327 and was seafoam green. Why the goofy air filter is anyone's guess. When was the last time you saw a '56 Chevy with its old six and Powerglide? The two little girls were "driving" their dad's '64 Electra. New Buick girls?.......

Re: COPS car show
I just noticed that the first two pictures I posted there are from the Florence show. The green engine with three deuces is a '58 Buick 364 with full-tilt cam and three deuces. Why he didn't use a 401 is anybody's guess. I didn't know Fenton still made finned aluminum valve covers for a nailhead engine. It was in a '34 Ford street rod and the guy said it ran really well. It had a four-speed manual in it......
