My public radio station (it has two strings of transmitters: one for talk/news, one for music) has a Sat. a.m. call-in request show. They just played Vera Lynn singing "We'll Meet Again." That one always has special resonance for me. For one, last year I read through my Dad's letters from college and Europe in WW II. My grandmother and mother had saved them. WW II was a time of movement and uncertainty. People would meet, make brief friendships, and part. We've all experienced similar things. You encounter people for a project, job, meeting, school, and then the event ends.
This line always gets me:
"So will you please say hello
To the folks that I know
Tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singing this song"
