Sanford & Sons TV!
Sanford & Sons TV!
It's been listed on FBM for quite a while, for some reason, no takers! Restoration would be interesting, especially the shipping pallet cabinet!

They're trying to SELL that mess? I've been trying to give away, FREE, a nice original ca. 1954 Zenith console TV in mahogany for several years, and no takers so far. I did find a taker for my grandmother's RCA "New Vista" tube color TV (has nuvistors in the RF front end), but even that took a while.

Back in the days of BW tv's my grand parents had a GE, probably the same Era as this one. Their's was in cherry and had the speaker on the LH side and yes, it was as large as the one in this TV. The outline that you see in this photo is the size of the speaker, biggest oval speaker I have ever seen. I would guess 12×24 and it had great sound.

There is one of that model used as a prop on a TV show I watch. Too bad about the cabinet. Those are dandy sets when they are all in one piece. Chris, the only reason that Zenith TV you have is not in my shop is because you are 2100 miles from me. If I ever get up your way again, and if you still have it, that set will get a new home......
I'll bet if Shango had that broken GE set, he'd get it going....

Doggonit. Why are things I want always so far away or so expensive? If I was close to where that tv is, I'd be all over it. If you believe that then I have a bridge called the Brooklyn Bridge that I'll sell you for a good price.
Re: Sanford & Sons TV!
I remember having the speaker 16 x 12 or something like that.large oversize 6x9

Ah man!!!
I've been looking for one of those. Not in that bad of shape though! That's one of GE's futuristic "Forecaster" line. Very "thin" set with a very large speaker.
