Audacity
Have any of you had any experience with Audacity? This is the music conversion software that lots of people use. I am currently using a software that is no longer supported. I also want something that can adjust speed and it more accurate with bass reproduction. It needs good noise cancelling. I understand that Audacity does not have noise reduction. Fill me in, what do I need to know?

Re: Audacity
I use Audacity for a news production segment I do
at a true community radio station.
It has great online support and tutorials.
Lots of built in menu functions that are really practical and
useful for users.

Re: Audacity
Audacity seems like it is really complicated to set up. They use terminology that I am not familiar with. I need something to convert records and tapes to digital. And I want to kipe audio from the Internet. I have a friend who has used it for maybe 20 years now and makes some amazing CD's. He can clean up 78's and the old cylinder records so they sound halfway decent. Are you familiar with Audacity's noise reduction system?

Your friend who uses Audacity sounds like a resource.

Re: Audacity
It may have been better to have said "I HAD a friend...." His name was Bob and he worked for me for a time. He passed a couple of years ago. Kinda hard to imagine him gone. He was a year older than I am, and was a true music lover. His thing was steel guitars and the artists who played them. Our musical tastes were similar. He started out on Audacity when my idiot brother-in-law recorded some of Bob's 78's using a Mac. Bob hated Mac computers, hated my now ex brother-in-law even worse, but he was impressed with his work transferring old records to CD. Audacity was free, so that was a "bingo" for Bob. He did some amazing work with Audacity, on an old Windows 98 computer. I played a couple of the CD's Bob did for me with Audacity and it got me to thinking about trying it myself.
