Old JVC/ Nivco

Post: # 25022Post hermitcrab »

I thought this was pretty unique looking , so I made her an offer , which she turned down... if it had FM radio, it might be worth it, but just AM/SW ?... in my area both bands are dead so it is just a glorified record player to me...I wish her good luck in selling https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 9d29407d37

If it has FM, it uses one of those confusing dial markings like Stromberg-Carlson used....

It has a VM changer, which is always good. I don't know what your offer was, but she will keep that thing a long time for what she is asking. You could easily put over $100 in the changer, since it not only needs what they all need, but it also needs a platter mat.... ;)

Good luck. You may end up with it yet.......

I reminds me of the Delmonico brand record players and kind of like the German shinny ones too. VM changer, that is good but not what I would expect.

Did not JVC stand for the Victor Corporation of Japan, or something like that. The Japanese arm of RCA....

JVC was founded in 1927 as the Victor Talking Machine Company of Japan

The part that drew my eye was "Very old!" It's younger than am....

Wish I could enlarge that schematic & read it.

The schematic is under the DelMonico name per Sams.

The record changer, though appearing as a V-M, is not.

It is a DelMonico SRC-4 from 1961 era.

The mechanicals in the changer appear to
have enough differences in them to have allowed
NI ppon VI ctor CO mpany to get their design patent.

Interesting Mr. Mogul about the changer. It sure looks like a VM from the top but I guess seeing the schematic is the true test of who really made it.

My car has a NipponDenso alternator on it. Would that company be a distant relative of JVC/Nivco?

I can't imagine that was sold in the US. FM was on every radio-RP by this time.

The seller is close to Canada, where FM did not exist before the 90s!!

The RP is likely a Japanese version, like one I have from a DelMonico.
