Happy Thanksgiving!!

Post: # 23810Post electra225 »

'Tis the season to make sure you have enough propane to fry the turkey. Then get out the big mixer so you can smash the 'taters. No sister in law this year, so no Brussels sprouts. AWWWWW. ;) ;)

I hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving and truly give thanks for all the good things we have. I'm thankful for each of you and for the opportunity to spend some time with you. :D :D

I actually survived a trip to Walmart this morning. The guy at ACE hardware said the day before Thanksgiving was their biggest propane sales day of the year...

HAPPY BIRD!!! I brought up the Christmas records Sunday afternoon. Tomorrow is the soft intro with Jackie Gleason and ending with nat Cole. THEN it's christmas.

Made my stuffing. Took about 4 hours to cook the broth. I think my dad, aunt and grandma would be happy. It tastes like grandma's. Secret was Bells poultry season and dried bread. Not that bag stuff.

Yes, Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. I actually beat you Walter, I have been listening to Christmas music for a couple of days now. I wanted it to get me in the mood for Thanksgiving. It is never too early to listen to Christmas music. Don't eat too much! ;)

I went to fix breakfast this morning and found the eggs were frozen. We had frozen Pepsi, but the Dr. Pepper setting next to them were fine. The worst part is we had a lightly frozen turkey! We had it all ready to fry, then found it frozen. We are in "turkey thaw 911" right now. Dinner may be later than scheduled, but we've been thru worse than this. I unplugged the fridge to reset its brain. I put one of my A/C thermometers in the fridge and got a 40 degree reading. The t-stat is set on 39, so that is pretty close and certainly warm enough things shouldn't freeze. I have no idea what happened. I hear the defrost fan running, but I can't feel the compressor running.

Glad to hear everyone is having a nice Thanksgiving. :D :D

Apparently, we had a power surge sometime last night. The fridge got its brain scrambled. This happened before, but, instead of running constantly and freezing, the fridge quit cooling. The first thing Whirlpool tells you is to remove power for a minute, then power back on. This operation resets the computer. This is what I did and it seems to have taken care of it. I have three thermometers in strategic locations inside the fridge, so I can keep an eye on temps. I'm told that using eggs that have frozen is okay as long as they are not cracked. We tossed the cracked ones let the rest warm up to about 50 degrees, then put them back. I am monitoring the temps. The yolks may be "thick" so we can use them for cooking and just eat scrambled eggs until they are gone. We got the turkey fried, dinner over, a good time was had by all. I hope you all had a nice day..... :D :D

I had a very pleasant meal with family and for the first time in memory, managed to stop eating before foundering. Yay for good food, but not too much. Juicy turkey and a couple of Granny's southern recipes--sweet potatoes and a corn souffle.
