This one is a beauty!

Post: # 2142Post Hydrolastic »

Someday one, like this will show up in the northwest but for now just appreciate from a distance. Guessing late 60 or 61 off of the tuner? Is this a stereo theater? It has a mpx preamp and the turntable is there a higher model to this? Hydro https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 290901546/

That is one good looking Magnavox stereo theater. I'm not sure of the year, the changer tells me earlier but I'm probably wrong. I'll do some research and see what I can come up with. And, it is very reasonable.

I was wrong, the changer is correct for the time frame. The ad is for a 1961 Magnavox Imperial Stereo Theater 24. 24" TV, 15" side firing woofers, horn tweeters, Collaro changer, in Danish walnut. No doubt about it, that is a good looking ST, and at a fair price. I hope someone in our group ends up with it.

Nice aircraft carrier! Interesting that the dial is mounted 90 degrees to axis, I'd guess it was used without mods in front-mounting situations as well and because so few tv-stereo combo theaters were sold it didn't justify a remake of the dial/control faceplate just for them.

That unit looks like it was in a time capsule. Too bad it is where so few would appreciate it and so far away from them that do.

If only this would have been available for Greg before he made the permanent move to AZ. It looks to be a hop, skip, and a jump from his home in Missouri.

They were probably waiting for him to move. :)

You are probably right, Rex. He had to drive to Michigan to get the one he has.

That is a nice unit. The condition is amazing. I wouldn't mind having one of these someday... and another house to put it in...

Except for no controls on the front, it almost looks like a regular console TV with wings added on each side, the way the legs and cabinet are designed. It's certainly in excellent condition!

It is a 1959 or 1960 model. Conquest changer, end-reading tuner and the old style knobs. But it is a beautiful instrument. I hope somebody gives it a good home.

Commenting on the TV part, those were usually pretty straightforward to repair, no oddball tubes.
