YOu may have noticed the blurb I posted in the Announcements board at the top of the home page. This forum has been over-run with posts by individuals up to no good. Nonsense, advertising, "How to contact administrator" and porn have been their offerings. Many of their posts are almost approvable. Posting to incorrect boards, making inappropriate comments when it's plain that English is not their first language. The Moderators have been working diligently to keep this garbage off the forum. I wanted you guys to know what was going on so the blurb on the Announcements might make more sense to you. But, going forward, every new member unknown to a member or members of this forum needs to make his first post on the Introductions page, or he'll never make it onto the forum. Letting people on the forum without knowing they are a legitimate member is rife with pitfalls. The contempt I hold for individuals with nothing better to do than to set at a computer and attempt to mess up something someone has worked hard to develop, knows no bounds...

Moderating is a thankless job. I haven't seen much, if any, garbage sneaking through so you're on top of it so far...

Our problem was keeping members in line... sent many a poster to the woodshed. Thankfully our members have manners, respect and common sense.

I'm a member of some car forums. It seems it (the garbage that sneaks thru) has increased exponentially over the last few years. Spam bots, hackers, overseas "bad actors", ransomware attackers, etc. And that's in addition to 'normal' users that don't want to play nice with each other.

Many of the members of our forum, nearly all the active members, have been invited to join by someone on the forum. If, in the future, you have someone you know who wants to join, please let me or a Moderator know so we can ease the red tape. We had lots more trouble last year. We got 1250 new members in one day. Took me three days to clean that mess up. We started our "three post" rule sometime last year. It has been a godsend when it comes to garbage posts.

I am eternally thankful for the members we have on this little forum. Everybody treats the other guy with respect. We have essentially zero issues with people making fools of themselves. You guys deserve the very best forum experience we can provide.

ARF is going thru their updates as we speak. There is a five-page topic of griping and crabbing about the updates. The updates on our little forum was a challenge, I can't imagine it with a huge database like ARF.
