'51 Buick Super

Post: # 18777Post electra225 »

This is one of my favorite years of Straight 8 Buicks. This one is solid and has fairly nice paint. No sweepspear trim, dechromed trunk lid, no Dynaflow script, lots of bubbly chrome, it has '52 hubcaps. It is missing the two grille teeth that get broken when it has been on a bumper jack. The interior is all wrong. Sure has a lot of potential, though. Not having the sweepspear trim is the biggest downfall to my way of thinking. It would take $25,000 to put it right, then you'd have a $10,000 car..... ;)

The video had a right-column link to a video on a '51 Super, one of those "will it start" videos. It did. The guy did not know much about Buicks (thought Dynaflow was a model designation and that it was a 2-speed transmission), but he kept exclaiming over how smoothly the old straight-8 idled.
