540,000 miles on her "chariot"...
What a neat lady. Allegedly original powertrain. Looks like a 260 or 289 and Fordomatic with power steering and air conditioning. I think this is the Caliente model, the top-line small Mercury. She likes buying "lifetime" parts....

That is so cool. They were nice cars, good engineering as well.
My dad had a '62 Comet with the 170 six and the 2-speed auto. Looked to be the same 'cream' color as Rachel's.
It fell to a traffic accident, and he bought a '64 leSabre coupe to replace it.
I remember it had angle folds in the top to make it look like a convertible.

Love those "lifetime" warranties; such a smart lady.
That floating compass is the same one my Dad had
on the top of the dashboard in our 1963 Rambler 660
station wagon.
I still wish I had had enough sense to have asked Dad to
keep the 1949 Plymouth, that he sold to a co-worker
at the Post Office for $100 !!!!
I'm sure I could have saved up for it.....rats. [ : )

I'll bet the testosterone-free driving may have helped the car survive, plus she seems to have been sharp and alert enough to recognize maintenance needs.

I remember watching this on the news years ago. Just goes to show you how care and maintenance goes a long way.
