I visited them....
I went to the storage unit yesterday after work on another matter. I "visited" all my stuff that I haven't even seen for almost a year. Everything is cozy under its blanket, but it seemed almost surreal. I saw my Pioneer SX-1050 sitting on top of a radio cabinet. That thing used to literally explode a set of speakers if they were not extremely robust. A set of Peavey studio speakers was about the only speakers I ever had that would take the abuse of the SX-1050. My old Marantz 2245 is the one I used in my "laboratory" for processing music to digital. It is not very exotic, but has been a dependable performer since the day my stepdad bought it new sometime in the 1970's. The switching isn't nearly as flexible as the Sx-1050, but it's easier on speakers. I saw my Harmon-Kardon SA 230 "Stereo Festival" that I have had for eons, but have never really used much. And a Dynaco SCA-35 that needs a good overhaul. Perhaps with all the expertise by the members of this forum, I can tune some of this stuff up and enjoy it again. The SX-1050 has a dead left channel. Digging into that thing should be fun.......

Re: I visited them....
Wow! That sounds like an amazing collection- so pardon my envy!
The SX-1050 is a sexy beast... maybe someday I'll chance into something like that I can: a- afford b- be willing to spend the money. Those silver face Pioneers are beautiful. I have a very early 80's SX-3700 that, while lacking the power and grace of the 1050, is still visually appealing and sounds really good. That it set me back $10 (10 years ago and with some "meh" Pioneer speakers) makes it that much more special. I stumbled across a guy (ironically a co-worker) on Facebook Marketplace selling a Sansui 5000x a couple of years ago for $30. It had a dead channel but a visit to my local repair shop (and $120 later) and it's been singing like it was new.
Right now I have the Sansui set up in my home office (now a necessity) with four Realistic Minimus 7 speakers. For the limited volume in the small room it sounds pretty great.
At this point I'm planning to gift the Pioneer to my best friend's teenager along with a set of Pioneer floor speakers (I acquired for free). I suppose I could make a tidy profit if I chose to sell but I'd much rather see it in the hands of a young person just discovering a love of vinyl.

Re: I visited them....
I haven't convinced myself whether to dig into the SX-1050 myself or take it to someone more familiar with it. One channel quit one day without warning. I had to sell the Peavey speakers a few years ago to keep peace in the family. It was easy to get too rowdy with the volume control with those speakers. They had 18" woofers and produced enough bass that it was like getting hit in the chest with a board. They looked too "industrial" to fit in with the decor, if you get my drift......
