I Wish I Could Have A Real Weekend

Post: # 16503Post 19&41 »

Every weekend the last couple of months I've had to spend working on the car and then spending the rest of it without a car. Then getting tires put on. Last Tuesday I took the car to my favorite garage to get things finally sorted out. I made out a leave request as I would probably be a little late for work after picking it up. So I started feeling tired and woozy and by the time I got the car my nose and sinuses were swelled up tight. They remained so last night and this morning I also had a 100.5 degree fever. I can barely keep my balance walking and I feel extra rotten.

Take care of yourself! I have been burning the candle at both ends for about three months. It finally caught up with me. Prayers and good thoughts to you for a speedy recovery. :D

It is frustrating when one thing after the other makes life miserable. I hope that comes to an end for you soon.

I came out to New York for the 20s Jazz party on Governors Island. Woke up this morning coughing horribly, fever, sore... Second summer cold this year. Ever since I had covid, every cold is like death...

I felt better when I smoked.

Rex and Walter, I hope you feel better real soon. I have friends here in town that are suffering from the same sickness. Good thoughts go your way for a speedy recovery.

Looks like the guy that hosts On Patrol Live has it too. I still have a 100 degree fever.

My wife says there's a lot of RSV (Respiratory Syncytial virus) going around, it's traditionally been more problem for younger kids but being seen more seriously in adults the last couple of years and can be serious for the elderly. We both had it last Sept. Only way to verify it from a cold is by a nasal swab and an anti-body/antigen test. She supposedly "retired" in Nov '21 but got bored and is still practicing part-time doing tele-medicine.

A radio report the other day encouraged vaccinations for flu and RSV--they can be taken together. Wait a bit for the new Covid vax because it will be updated--and apparently should be separated from the flu/RSV dose anyway.

I stayed home from work yesterday. A good move on a new job, huh? I didn't sleep well, got up every 20 minutes to go to the bathroom. About 3 am, it felt like I'd been kicked by a mule, right under my belly button. The wife was afraid of appendicitis. She wanted to call 9-1-1. I went to the walk-in clinic down the block and they told me I had "gastro-intestinal distress" whatever that is. They gave me three pills then waited for me to pass the gas. I didn't feel well Sunday when I got home from work. I had eaten a Subway sandwich about 5 pm at work. When I got home, the wife had made supper and was hungry, so I ate White Castles and french fries. That was about 7:30. Then we had ice cream about 9pm, then we went to bed about 10pm. I can't eat like that anymore. I felt worse then than I had for a long time. They told me at the clinic that I didn't have the virus and that I didn't have the flu.

The dr's office offered a covid test but I said no. If They had found that They would have kept me home for 2 weeks. I don't have that much sick time. Feeling a bit better today. Ought to be good by Thursday when my rtw letter is dated.

Greg, "gastro-intestinal distress" is better known as having a FART crosswise.   ;) It does take a while for it to get through you, I get it often when I eat too much which I cannot do anymore.

Rex, I'm glad you are feeling better, and I hope you can get back to work on Thursday.

There are also those unfortunate instances when a fart... isn't a gaseous discharge. That's when you have distress.
