Sears Silvertone No Slouch

Post: # 16451Post tasar »

Dept stores wanted happy customers, returns meant for bad business in a Very competitive market. Silvertone contractors eg Wells Gardner, were second to nobody on circuit executions. Top quality materials with some innovative sprinkles, both technical and cosmetic. Previous owner decided to sand and oil original finish, thankfully there's real and not faux veneers that were salvageable with a little "encouragement" The finished highlighting is correct but when hiding wood acne, one must go darker with the tone. I'm not happy with the latest canned lacquers when I'm in a hurry, serves me right when stepping outside the Mohawk brand. This was a quickie job and I've timed down the show polish shine using simple polishing techniques.

Very Nice!... I had the same set , not as nice as yours but it was a good performer. I recapped the set and just used some restore a finish on it. I really liked those gold dial silvertone's... I ended up selling it to a co-worker that just had to have it when he saw it... He has it in his man cave and plays it all the time. at least it is getting used and not wasting away in my basement, but I miss that one...

That is a beautiful job, Dave. I like the gold dial Silvertones, but have never had one. Wells-Gardner built good stuff.
I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.....Thomas Alva Edison
