New/old person

Post: # 16221Post Brettzky99 »

Used to be on the old site, been kicking around Facebook groups. Am up to 7 units and doing my own recap work. Still confused by record changers mechs and resistor work but am learning. Thanks for the invite

My rules of no solid state gear and no German stuff have led me to these late 50's early 60's tube offerings from Motorola, Zenith, Magnavox and V-M...

Yes, welcome to the forum. It looks like you have a nice collection including VM which is one of my favorites. Being a Michigander, where VM was built, is why I like VM so much that and they were well built, and their changers are easy to service.

You have a whole line up of good-looking consoles, which one are you going to pick for your Avatar, or will it be something else? Do you have a go to/favorite that you listen to the most?

I have one of those waiting for restoration. Mine looks like yours, but I know that cabinet used different components during its lifetime.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

That is a wise decision to limit your focus to tube models, not even hybrids. My adventure with a 1970 KLH Twenty-plus AM brings to mind the line "I'd smoked my mind the night before with cigarettes and songs that I'd been pickin'" to modify a line from sunday mornin' comin' down Johnny Cash version.

Just substitute schematics :geek: for "cigarettes" and KLH 20' for "songs", no talent here  just techin'

Yes welcome to our Zoo!
Love all those MCM consoles, would love to have that kind of space but our house is under 1000 sq ft!
Hoping to make room for 1 stereo console in the LR, will have to be blonde to match the other stuff,
and not one of those 6ft "aircraft carrier" models! LOL
