Door hinges

Post: # 14934Post TC Chris »

My '61 Chevy has droopy doors. I don't know much about the hinges--whether they have replaceable bushings, whether the pins can be replaced, etc. Who knows about 60s GM product hinges?

I really do not remember much about the 60's GM door hinges; it was kind of before I knew much about cars but I did like cars back then and had my favorites. I can tell you that GM door hinges in later years had replaceable bushings and pins. Having said that, if they have been dropping for a long time the pin may have worn past the bushing and into the actual hinge itself which at that point the hinge will need to be replaced. The good news, back then the hinges were bolted in, unlike today where they are welded to the body of the vehicle which makes them a very expensive pain to replace.
