Magnavox switch box
Hello guys, Yesterday saw this on offer up about 30 minutes from me. This morning picked it up. I am hoping to be able to use it in the stereo room. What do you think was the original use ?

Re: Magnavox switch box
Actually, it's too bad there aren't more of those around to let us easily mix'n'match components. I've got a little Radio Shack switchbox intended to accommodate multiple tape decks. You could record from one to the other, or choose any one for the main preamp. Back in those days there was usually only one tape in/out on an amp or preamp.

Re: Magnavox switch box
I would have said it was used in a store to demonstrate the different Magnavox components, and that is probably still the case. But the cabinet looks fancy like it would belong in a home so maybe Magnavox sold them at retail for its customers. Anyone else have an idea?

Re: Magnavox switch box
That's my guess as well, Bill. Magnavox units were sold in furniture stores, so a snazzy box wasn't a bad choice. I remember there was a furniture store back home with a massive floor plan that had room settings and the Baldwin, Kimball, Zenith and Magnavox trimmings for each as well.
