Late 1950's Magnavox What Model ?
The price for me is a bit high, but the finish and overall
condition on this Maggie appears really nice.
I really dig this semi-modern classy cabinet style.
Can someone ID the model/year ?
It has a big woofer and two tweeters on each side.
Changer looks like a Collaro Conquest or similar
from 1958 or so.

Re: Late 1950's Magnavox What Model ?
According to the Magnavox catalog from 1960, this is closest to the model 1ST212, Stereorama. The cabinet is much like a Symphony of that vintage, but the amp is not even close. The 1960 Symphony would have the AMP 175. The amp in the picture is not near big enough to be an AMP-175. It doesn't have enough small speakers to be a Symphony. The AMP-175 is the direct ancestor of the vaunted 93 series. And, the Symphony for 1960 would have a six-knob tuner with "end view" orientation. The dial could be viewed from the end of the cabinet, rather than from the front. We have a forum member who has/had a Stereorama. Perhaps they will chime in and confirm or deny this information.

It's a good looker. And the amp, while maybe not top of the line, has what looks to be a massive power transformer. I was trying to get a sense of the size of that transformer--illusion or actually really big? And it was hard to tell what output stage it had.

Re: Late 1950's Magnavox What Model ?
It looks to me like a model Maganvox called the Serenade. It had 2 12" woofers and 4 tweeters, and was single ended. The Magnavox Serenade was very similar to my Colombia which was made by Magnavox. Mine does not have the radio, but the amp looks like the one in this ad. I believe the one in the ad is model 1-ST259.

A rather "meh" unit for that low-ish spec, and especially at that price...imho. Cab looks in nice shape.

Mr. Mogul. Mine is an amp 197. 12AX7, single ended 6BQ5's, and a 5Y3 rectifier. The one pictured looks like it has a 5U4 rectifier and is built a little more robust but probably do to the fact it has a tuner.

Re: Late 1950's Magnavox What Model ?
It looks just like a 1ST223 that I picked up a year ago for $65, an hour east in the west Phl suburbs. It would likely be a "symphony junior" but I have no catalog to verify.
That one has same amp with 5U4 as well. There were two levels of power to be had from those SE 6BQ5 amps, so that sounds right

Above is the post I made on the versions just a notch below this one.

Re: Late 1950's Magnavox What Model ?
"Symphony Junior" is an apt description, Dave. IT has the Symphony cabinet style, with lesser electronics. There is not a specific model like that in the 1959, 1960, or 1961 catalogs. Stereorama is the closest. The Serenade is in a different cabinet. My guess is that this may be one of Magnavox's infamous "interim" models, made with features of two series. The six-knob tuner and changer are on the same end of the cabinet in a Symphony. This may be one of those instruments that we need the model number off of to positively identify.
