Discussions about instruments in smaller cabinets. If they don't set on the floor, they belong here. Tube and solid state, stereo and mono.

Another Wildcat Lassoed

Post: # 11035Post Hi-Fi-Mogul »

Well, if I can keep up some of this pace, I'll have plenty
of record players ready for my big black Friday sale.

This little mustard cat took a bit of time to get some
quirks worked out.

The end of record tonearm trip was actually kicking back
onto the record. Not good.
I found some overlapping metal plates on
the tonearm linkage that had to be completely
taken off and cleaned.

The G.E. cart had to be set for its max tracking force,
to trip properly, but records show no sign of ill wear.

I put in a new Pfanstiehl 511 diamond stylus, and it
has a good punch soundwise.

The green Sears "Wildcat" may have a cartridge problem.
So, it's back to the lab for that gal.

The Wildcat bears a striking resemblance to the Sears model. And vise versa...... ;)
