Re: JBL C36 Viscount Speakers
So you play guitar in a band? What genre, if I may ask? My uncle played in a western swing band that he and three of his high school buddies started. My uncle played a chrome Silvertone "Hawaiian" steel guitar, that I used to have, but gave it to his son after I went thru it. The amp had ...

Re: JBL C36 Viscount Speakers
Tell us about the other components. Chris Campbell Hi Chris- The receiver is a Sansui 5000x I paid $30 for and then put $125 into having a local electronics shop (old school, now closed sadly) fix an issue that caused the left channel to continually pop fuses. They also replaced lights that had bur...

JBL C36 Viscount Speakers
Hey everyone... as the kids say, it's been a minute and I hope you are all doing well! I recently purchased a beautiful pair of JBL C36 Viscount speakers (from the mid to late 60's) at an estate sale. I'd like to say I paid thrift store pricing but I'm still really happy with the deal, especially af...

Magnavox Imperial
Clearly needs some loving but looks to be in decent condition overall. If I were still doing consoles I'd be all over it since it's only 15 minutes away.

Re: Replacement for My Imperial
Two comments. First , be very careful with the paint removal; the base of the TT is likely veneered and some of the veneers are very thin. Don't get too enthusiastic with sanding. Second , tell me more about the KLH surround dope you've got. I've read about the problem--KLH used a cloth surround (y...

Replacement for My Imperial
While no more consoles, I am still keeping things vintage. Current set up has been updated a little with the addition of an early 70's Dual 1229 turntable. Beautiful machine with idler drive... whisper quiet and sounds amazing. My main speakers are first gen KLH Model 6 that date to the late 50s or ...

Re: No More Consoles
There are smaller record players and stereos that might fit your circumstances better. Thank you for referring the new owner to our site. I have a 1971 Sansui 5000x receiver that is in great condition and a borrowed Pioneer turntable. Speakers are some old Realistic Minumus 7's paired with a set of...

No More Consoles
For the first time several years I am without a console. After breathing life into my 1961 Magnavox Imperial that had sat, silenced, for 35 years I came to the realization that our little house is not just large enough for a console... maybe someday when the kids finally leave the nest. So it's a pr...

Re: I visited them....
Wow! That sounds like an amazing collection- so pardon my envy! The SX-1050 is a sexy beast... maybe someday I'll chance into something like that I can: a- afford b- be willing to spend the money. Those silver face Pioneers are beautiful. I have a very early 80's SX-3700 that, while lacking the powe...

Some Familiar Faces
Hey all- glad to be back on a working forum and it's great to see some familiar faces. I've always loved audio and stumbled into the wonderland of consoles several years ago. I've learned much from visiting forums such as this and soliciting sage advise and tidbits of wisdom and opinion from many of...
