Re: Lefty Frizzell Saginaw Michigan

I remember those days, Chris. Definitely simpler times, and without smartphones to keep us kiddies busy.

Re: Plenty To Do In Retirement

I hate Spectrum, but love their service so I have always been skeptical to change companies. They can either walk you thru the problems or will have a service guy there within 24 hours and sometimes it is within just hours. Ever since Frontier came thru a couple years ago with fiberoptic cable Spect...

Per your usual, nice job Mr. Mogul. The wax caps definitely needed replacement and are the speakers two different sizes?

Re: Motorola SK-29M Restoration

I have a couple of items with that same fake finish. The hardest one to do something with is an RCA TV from 1958 in blonde. The front of the TV is real oak, but the sides and top are a Masonite type of thing with a blonde sprayed on finish. The top is pretty much gone and there are missing parts of ...

Re: Motorola SK-29M Restoration

Your series of VM changers use two washers, one on top of the race and one on the bottom. And, like Chris stated, the shinny one is on the bottom. Something else to consider is you might have a bad bearing race. If the little balls are not turning it can cause rumble.

Re: 1948 Olympic 8-925 AM-FM phono console

Looks like they have their source for the LP's sitting on top and some kind of a speaker sitting there too. It is a beautiful piece and from your recording of Stardust, it sounded great too.

Re: 1957-8 RCA SFH-5 Mark IV ?

That is one of RCA's conversion units. The amp is built to be stereo and yes to make it stereo you need the aux. speaker. There is a switch on the amp that that turns it from a PP mono amp to a single ended stereo amp. I have a blonde one with the aux speaker that is sitting in storage. The cabinets...

Those are nice, and I do not have that model but I do have a model with that amp. They sound great and are well built.

Re: Westinghouse Nice Design

That is nice looking and compact. I think the amp has more power than what the speaker can handle, maybe larger woofers would be in order.

Re: V-M 1210 " Takes a lickin', keeps on tickin' "

Thanks, Mr. Mogul. Neither of the photos that were provided on Mr. Google when I typed in Phonola model 856 where what you pictured in your photo. One was a nice looking portable stereo and the other was a small manual portable. As far as durability, and going a step farther with what Greg stated, &...

Re: V-M 1210 " Takes a lickin', keeps on tickin' "

Mr. Mogul. Would you please provide a photo of the Phonola you are working on, I am curious what it looks like. When I Googled the model number it brought up a couple of different photos for the 856 model number.

Thank you,

Re: Dawn of stereo

Hey, Dave, did you forget to attach something. You said attached but I do not see an attachment. In RCA's models numbers the "H" stood for highfi/mono and the "S" stood for stereo, right?
