Re: Hydra-Matic

Interesting story and history of both transmissions. The 1962 Buick Electra that Paul owns has a Dynaflow, reverse is at the bottom. The 1965 Buick Electra that he has must be a Turbo 400 as the R is between the P and N. It is hard to go from one to the other and remember that the the "R" ...

Re: Hydra-Matic

Is the hydro-matic in this story the same thing as a Dynaflow? If not, where does Dynaflow fit in?

Re: No blooms on grapefruit tree

Weird, but I remember Dick saying that happened to his orange and lemon trees one year. I love grapefruit, it does not like me. :(

Re: Buick-Olds-Pontiac car show

Glad you had a good time, 102 is a bit much but it is AZ. Looking forward to the photos, that was always one of my favorite shows.

Thanks for sharing. Love the Metro and will show Bob the photo. And is that an A/C condenser sitting on top of a Corvair engine?

Re: $5 Riviera Deluxe

Keeping my fingers crossed that it is over for you, at least with this project. And, thank you for the tip on adding the resistor to the balance pot. I need to work on my Maggie with the same issue, it now has woofer flutter in both channels no matter what input I use. :(

Re: $5 Riviera Deluxe

Nice job, and thank you for the tip on balance control repair. I have a record player that does the same thing, loud left and right but soft in the middle. I may just try your suggestion. Of course I have no idea what resistance to use, mine is a PP tube unit and is a Magnavox.

Re: Sitting at home--snow

Occasionally, the city would come and do the welder thing at their house. The water line runs directly center down the street and my parents house was located on the street that feed the school system. So, when the winter was severe, and the busses and the other traffic, their line would freeze duri...

Re: Sitting at home--snow

17 here this morning and the wind has is almost gone. We did get some snow, maybe just over an inch, nothing like Chris received or is still receiving. Michigan is so weird when it comes to weather, how it hits land and what it dumps. The last round of severe weather was south of me and family membe...

Re: Sitting at home--snow

Welcome to Michigan! I too have, south of you, blizzard conditions. Last night we had freezing rain but it must have stopped before the temps dropped and it began snowing and receiving about an inch over night. The weather guessers predicted 3-5" for us today with high winds and little to no vi...

One of my favorites too, Chris. Here is a version, no singing, just very powerful. A good sound system is needed to do it justice.

The Philco Story

I fell down the rabbit hole today. The story of Philco is long but interesting, a lot to be learned about one of America's largest companies. My biggest complaint, the narrative and the photos do not match.

Re: GE Wellington coffee table, model RC 4842-A

It looks beautiful, nice job and well worth all of the work. Having a coffee table stereo is a problem when it comes to where to plug it in. Most homes do not have an outlet in the middle of there living room floors. :( ;) :)

Re: Guild Rolltop desk Stereo

I have, there was one listed on either Craigslist or eBay a couple of years ago. I may have even been this one. It looks well built as far as the guts go. Three channel, bass in the front and if you look close to the photo that shows the LH side you will see a door that opens for the LH channel. The...
