Magnavox???

Last one, I found this and thought it odd. It's a Magnificent Magnavox six knobber. But take a look at the changer. It definitely does not fit the vintage of the rest of the unit. It does have a Magnavox label, but not a Collaro. BSR maybe?

It is a 1960, probably some version of a Symphony, with an incorrect, much later changer. But....."The Magnivox (sic) Company is world famous for their early American electronics. The Magnivox (sic) Magnificent shown here is mid century modern marvel....." ;)

This seller hit all the ebay cues when he wrote his blurb. It would make a nice unit with a little TLC and with the correct Conquest changer.

Could it be a "Little Imperial"?

Proud?? ...or greedy and ignorant. I'd say the latter.

Early American electronics? Does that involve watermills for power? good heavens...

I think the guy meant "early electronics from the USA." For those children who are younger than I am, anything from 20 years ago is "vintage" or "antique." And one thing I will say, that's a handsome design. Maggie should have kept their senses before they rushed into Mediterranean plastic a few years later. There is much to be said for dignity.

I believe little Imperials appeared for the 1961 model year. Unfortunately, my 1960 brochure is not complete. Some "guesstimations" are necessary when deciphering it. This thing has the "end view" tuner dial, so this generally means it is some version of the Symphony series.

That is a Collaro record changer. The tonearm does actually tap the record to check the size. I'd say that changer was made in the very late 1970s or later.

Here's a similar one:

Thanks, Ken. I have never seen a Collaro that looked like that one. Would you consider that a lower level Collaro?

It's not nearly as durable as the old 600 series. Lower level yes, but still better than a BSR.

Methinks the decimal point quit working on the seller's computer........ ;)  Even $87.50 would be a stretch. ;)

I'll dissent here. If I were looking for a console (IF I had room and IF it were near and IF I didn't have a line of future projects from here to 2050) I might pounce on that one at < $90 just because it's so good-looking. And it's got a newer changer.

That is a handsome console... I wonder if it came in a blonde finish? It'd look good in that clean-lined style.

Agree on the changer too, so many vintage consoles have record players that I wouldn't want to expose my LP collection to, yet one does hesitate to rip out the original player in order to preserve good records.

I used to think that about the changers in some consoles. But, then my wife asked who was I saving the records for? Nobody will want them after I'm done with them. She suggested using them and enjoying them. So, I put my favorites on CD and just play the rest, with caution, of course, but I don't worry about turntables so much. So I keep equipment in good condition, clean the records before they are played, and go on with life.
