Martina McBride "Timeless"

Martina McBride recorded this album of standards in 2009. Very hard-core, traditional country music. It laid an egg. Big time. This is without a doubt the best work Martina ever did. Even had Dolly Parton singing harmony on "I Still Miss Someone" the old Johnny Cash standard from the 1950's. "Heartaches By the Number", "Pick Me Up On Your Way Down" are some of the songs included. I don't understand why this album didn't sell in the billions of copies. This proves the talent still exists to play country music the way it should be done. This album is 180 degrees removed from the typical screechy, bangy material Martina McBride records. Here is one cut from the album, "Thanks A Lot" the Ernest Tubb hit from the 1960's.

I have Martina McBride's Christmas CD. She did a great job with it and it's one of my favorite Christmas CD's.

My wife has a couple Martina McBride CD's with her more modern material on it. It's not horrible, but I can take it or leave it, quite frankly. "Timeless" is really good, though, not a bad note in the whole CD. The amazing part of it to me, is that nearly all the material was popular when she was in diapers.
