Capehart 1950 console

Post: # 4616Post TC Chris »

Here's a nice video of a 1950 Capehart console with a record-flipping changer and a good-quality magnetic pickup cartridge playing Ella Fitzgerald and Benny Goodman.

At some point, Capehart added LP records to the flip-over changer. There was a speed switch that changed speed, and you changed tone arms so you could play the Lp's. Later they came out with a tone arm that had a flip needle. Here's a good read about The Fabulous Capehart.

YouTube is wonderful. Or a curse, if you fall down the rabbit hole and waste the time that should have been devoted to accomplishing something. On the other hand, I did accomplish hearing 78s played at higher fidelity than usual.

YouTube is addictive. I find myself watching more there than I do on TV proper. I follow two or three YouTube channels. The thing that grinds my grits is all the pop-up ads. I know, I know. EVERYBODY on the planet has pop-up ad blockers on their device, except me.......

And me. I just adjust to hitting the delete key.

My brothers kid me about my YouTube channel. My most-viewed one is 551 views (the Maggie console, by the way). 2nd is a St. Pat's parade a nd 3rd is the '61 Chevy on her first cruise post-rebuild.

For some reason you have to click on "uploads" to see them all, at least when I go to the channel. Boats, cars, radios, waves, ice, parades. My latest one, shoreline ice, is up to 88 views. Nobody has signed up to sponsor my site so far...
