Cabinet damage is easy to deal with, at least the kind shown. But unrealistic prices are another matter.

If you blow up the picture larger, there is damage that looks like a dog chewed on the corner of the cabinet. It will take more than a simple refinish to fix that. Certainly repairable, but not at $2500.

I'm lucky. I'm already facing renting a storage unit for the Wurlitzer jukebox and the RCA and Home-Mark consoles and the tube TVs that I'm trying to give away, all stored at my Mom's house (and a bunch of other important stuff there). So it's really easy to resist the "just one more" call.

But even if I had room for it, $2,500 would scare me away from a perfect one.

I know you have heard this before, but if I were only closer.........

I have been wanting a big console TV. Magnavox preferred, but a Zenith or Dumont would suffice. I don't care whether its black and white or color, but B&W probably would work best. I understand about storage. I'll be glad to get the shop done.

I've got a '53 Zenith in mahogany... 12" speaker... FREE!! Next time you're in Michigan, stop by & pick it up.

I'm not likely to just "drop by" Traverse City on the way home from work out here. It is almost 2300 miles from here to there. I appreciate the offer. You never know....

Hope the astronomical price doesn't discourage someone for giving this beauty-under-the-skin a good home. Perhaps after some time the seller may come to their senses so someone can restore and enjoy what is one of the best consoles ever.

Greg it shouldn't be too difficult to find a M, Z or D b&w TV like that for a very reasonable price.

No room for a R2R unless they made the cabinet bigger. I'd personally like to see some 6L6's or the 93 series amp X2. They are beautiful instruments like they are.

I thought my cabinet was rough. Much better than that one. And it was $2000 cheaper. I should really consider fixing it up next year.

I'm sure I saw somewhere but what was original retail for a CG? Comparable RCA SHF-1 and Fisher Presidents were in the 2k and up in 1958 - 60...

I guess the Imperials would have competed with the Executive that went for around 15 to 1700 with or without r2r...

Can't remember the last time I saw or heard anything about the RCA 6HF1 or an SHF-1.

Concert Grand was $995 plus MPX, $30, plus external speakers. Concert Grand was the ultimate Magnavox not the ultimate stereo as far as cost goes.

Quite a bargain considering! Always found it odd that magnavox and fisher both sourced changers from British manufacturers when the US led in record production...
