I get an email newsletter called "How-To Geek" or something like that. It's computer-focused and mostly useful as a way of being gehnerally aware of what people do with computers. Today there was a big article on better sound than you get from a "smart speaker." The guy had acquired a tiny Pioneer "mini-stereo" from his dad's house, connected it to his computer, and was blown away hearing stereo. He just couldn't believe how good it sounded after listening to one of those tiny smart speakers for years.

My thought was, small speakers, probably low digital but rates/compressed music sources... what would he think with a good signal source and better speakers? But at least his taste for better sound has been whetted. Isn't that how most of us moved up? "Gee, that sounds better than my transistor radio."

I was going to add a comment online, but I get that at the office, and I had been in an extended Zoom mediation over divorce property from 9:00 a.m to 5:30 p.m. Actually snuck some lunch in at about 4:00 while documents were drafted. There had been enough staring at the computer for the time being.
