1956 Airline GAA-954

[Hi-Fi-Mogul]

This is the little sister to the Wards Airline GAA-1001.

The GAA-954 has a single 5 inch speaker, while the
GAA-1001 has a woofer and tweeter.

Both have the same 3 tube amplifier.

Very good full range sound.

Record changer is a V-M 954, which is the transition
b/t the 950 and the 1200 series changers.

The original turn around crystal cart was kaput.
I drilled a hole in the tonearm head, so I could
mount a Pfanstiehl P-228 stereo cartridge.

This will be at the antique shop so it can
find a nice home.

Very nice! So with the new cartridge, the user can play stereo records without damaging them.

Question: To wire a stereo cartridge to a mono input, do you just bridge the right and left together, and the grounds together? Probably would sound fine on a low-fi set, wondering if it works okay for higher-fi?

1. Yes, bridge R/L and grounds as you stated.

2. The stereo to mono bridging has worked well for me
on all types of mono amped units, from power transformer to hot
chassis designs.
