Scott console

Looks like a nice instrument, what do y'all think? I saw some discussion about a similar unit in the Other Consoles section here, I'm wondering if it's tube, all solid state, or a hybrid?

My bet would be that it's solid state because I don't see any conelrad markings. It looks like a good, well built unit and for the most part Dual makes good turntables. I've always read that Scott makes good amps too.

This is just me and don't pay much attention to me because I have a hard time letting go of money. I think the price is a little too high but if you like the looks of it and don't mind the trip then it could be a good deal for you. I don't like negotiating online but maybe you should since it's a long trip and that way you'll be prepared to pay full price if he won't come down off the price.

Scott (H.H. Scott, not the earlier E.H. Scott, which also made top-grade gear in the 20s and 30s) made high-quality equipment. The Dual 1009 is also a very good unit. Wish we knew what the speakers were and more abut the electronics chosen for this one.

I think this was a transition period from tubes to SS for Scott, and since this control panel doesn't refer to "silicon" like some photos that I've seen, or solid state, this unit could still be on the tube side of that transition. I'll see if the seller can get a picture of the back....
