The forum took a little break overnight. A server update was the cause. A security update that was not compatible with PhPBB, so the forum software shut us down. The time is coming where we are going to have to decide whether to give up the forum or whether we want to change it to a different software format. PhPBB is not being updated sufficiently to handle some of the security software packages the servers are being forced to use to fight off the onslaught of spambots who are determined to try and shut everything down. They do updates to PhPBB, but mostly for fixing "bugs" not for dealing with security. I try to minimize the hoops members need to jump thru on the forum, but, whether we like it or not, the day is rapidly approaching where we are going to have to adopt more strict security measures in order to stay afloat. The big forums are already fighting this. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth either way we go.
